Themes in D&C 28
How this section connects to Christ
The principle that God speaks to his prophet directly parallels the Lord's declaration to Aaron and Miriam that he speaks to Moses mouth to mouth, not in dark speeches.
The need to test the spirits and reject false revelations echoes John's counsel to try the spirits whether they are of God, because many false prophets have gone into the world.
Living D&C 28
This revelation establishes an important principle of order: while every person can receive personal revelation, revelation for the entire Church comes only through the prophet. This protects members from confusion and competing claims to authority. It also teaches how to handle disagreements—privately, gently, and with the Spirit.
