What happens in Psalms 133

A Song of Ascents by David — a beautiful short psalm about the goodness of unity among God's people. It is compared to precious oil and refreshing dew.

Psalms 133

How Good Is Unity

Study note

How good and pleasant it is when brothers and sisters live together in unity. It is like precious oil poured on Aaron's head, running down his beard and robes. It is like the dew of Hermon falling on the mountains of Zion. There the Lord commands his blessing — life forever.

1 Look how beautiful and sweet it is when God's people live together as one! Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!
2 Think of the costly oil that was poured over Aaron's head. It ran all the way down his beard and soaked into the collar of his robes. It is like the precious ointment upon the head, that ran down upon the beard, even Aaron's beard: that went down to the skirts of his garments;
3 It is like the fresh dew of Hermon falling on the hills of Zion. That is where the LORD sends his blessing — life that never ends. As the dew of Hermon, and as the dew that descended upon the mountains of Zion: for there the LORD commanded the blessing, even life for evermore.

Living Psalms 133

Good and pleasant — that is how God describes unity among His people. Like oil running down Aaron's beard or dew on the mountains, unity is refreshing and life-giving. Pursue unity in your family, your church, and your friendships. Where unity dwells, God commands His blessing.
